ROCK HILL FARMS, INC.

Rock Hill Farms Inc. was formed and began operation in 1974 when newlyweds Wanda and Truman Barrett decided to leave the corporateActive Image business of  Atlanta and return to live in Truman’s hometown of Hiawassee.

Prior to his return to Towns County, Truman had completed two tours of military (one with the U.S. Air Force and one with the U.S Army) as well as 14 years as Buyer for Graybar Electric Company.

Since 1974, Truman has continued a farming operation in addition to serving as Towns County Probate Judge and Towns County Sole Commissioner.  He has served on numerous boards both in the public and private sectors.  Experienced in conservation, recycling and agriculture, Truman has headed up several corporations which developed techniques in these fields, resulting in numerous instances of recognition on the national, state, and local levels.

Having developed organic fertilizers from different waste products, he has permitted organic fertilizer in more than 20 states and worked on facilities throughout the U.S as well as foreign countries. His roots growing up in the self-sufficient culture of the Appalachians has taught him to protect the resources which give us life.  In his words, “The closer we stay to nature, the closer we are to God.”
