Rock Hill Farms Compost is a rich, living, natural organic compost. Our compost acts as a sponge to hold water and prevent excessive loss of moisture in the soil. The use of our compost in vegetable and flower gardens and on trees, shrubs, and lawn provides valuable soil conditioning necessary for vigorous plant growth.

Flower Gardens & Vegetable GardensFor new gardens, spread compost 3 inches deep and till to a depth of 5 to 6 inches. For established gardens, mulch to 3 inches deep. For planting new trees and shrubs, dig a hole approximately twice the size of the root ball. Mix 1/3 compost by volume with 2/3 of existing soil and back fill. Water thoroughly. Additional fertilizer is not needed at the time of planting. For existing trees and shrubs, spread compost 2 inches deep out to the perimeter of the branches in the Spring and Fall. |  LawnsFor new lawns, apply 1 inch of compost (approximately 10 cubic ft. per 100 square feet) and till to a depth of 4 to 6 inches into existing soil. Then seed or sod as desired. No additional fertilizer is needed at the time of planting. For established lawns, spread 8 to 10 cubic ft. of compost per 1,000 square feet in the spring and fall. A mid-summer application of 4 to 5 cubic ft. per 1,000 square feet is also recommended. | Trees & Shrubs
